New Delhi: The flood in Assam has affected 168,000 people across 15 districts with the death toll reaching to 97, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
As per the latest local reports, the flood situation has showing early signs of improvement but the human toll continues to rise.
With the Dhansiri (South) River still flowing above the danger mark, flood waters continue to impact hundreds of villages.
Shiv Sagar, Golaghat, Dorhat and Charaidio are among the worst-hit districts.

More than 14,000 hectares of cropland remain submerged, adding to losses faced by farmers across the state.
The government has set up more than 100 emergency facilities, including camps and relief distribution centers.
Authorities say that relief and restoration work is continuing as they monitor the river levels and assess damage to roads, crops and public infrastructure. This latest crisis fits into a larger pattern.

Union Home Ministry data shows that Assam has lost 231 lives to hydro-meteorological disasters over the past three years.
And during the same period, more than 2.39 lakh hectares of agricultural land has been damaged.
Disaster management experts say that Assam's geography and the Brahmaputra Basin make annual flooding difficult to avoid.
