New Delhi (India), June 15: Fresh uncertainty has emerged over efforts to bring an end to months of conflict in West Asia after Israel's National Security Minister publicly distanced the country from the proposed peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

The development comes as Washington and Tehran move closer to formalising a landmark accord expected to be signed in Geneva later this week. The proposed arrangement is understood to include provisions aimed at halting hostilities across multiple fronts in the region, including Lebanon.

Israeli officials, however, have indicated that the agreement does not address their security concerns regarding Hezbollah. Notably, Israel was not involved in the the claimed peace deal.

On the other hand, Trump had claimed that Netnyahu almost detailed the peace deal with the Iran, adding that he is "very difficult guy” and claims the premier should be grateful, reported the Times of Isreal.

Interestingly, contrary to Trump's claims, Iran has said that this is not a peace deal but it's a memorandum of understanding.

According to Israeli leaders, the Iran-backed group continues to pose a significant threat, making it difficult for Israel to commit to restrictions on future military operations in Lebanon.

The differing positions highlight a key challenge facing the peace initiative, which has been projected as a major step toward de-escalating tensions across the Middle East.

While Tehran has signalled support for the framework, Israeli leaders remain wary of any arrangement that could limit their ability to respond to perceived security threats.

Diplomatic activity is also expected to intensify in the coming days. Reports suggest that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking consultations with US President Donald Trump following the conclusion of the G7 Summit, amid efforts to clarify Israel's position on the proposed agreement.

The White House has meanwhile urged restraint from all parties. Trump recently voiced concern over military actions in Lebanon, underscoring Washington's desire to preserve momentum behind the negotiations.

With the signing ceremony still days away, regional observers say the period leading up to the agreement will be closely watched for signs of either further escalation or a commitment to sustaining the fragile diplomatic breakthrough.

Ends.
