New Delhi [India], June 22 : The United States and Iran have made significant progress in their ongoing negotiations with US Vice President JD Vance saying that both sides have established a solid foundation for reaching a successful final deal.

Vance said, technical discussions between the two countries will continue in the coming days and weeks as negotiators are working towards finalising an agreement.

JD Vance Highlights Major Breakthrough

Speaking about the latest developments, Vice President JD Vance announced that the United States and its negotiating team had achieved major progress while working on a deal with Iran.

“Yesterday was a very, very good day. We made a lot of good progress. We did exactly what we wanted to do… the Iranians have agreed to invite IAEA inspectors back into their country. That is a major milestone for the American people,” Vance said.

He added that this move could represent an important first step toward preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

“And the first step in permanently denuclearizing by permanently ending a nuclear weapons program in Iran,” Vance said.

Technical Negotiations

The US Vice President said that while important progress has been made, further technical discussions are expected before a final agreement can be reached.

Negotiators from both countries are expected to continue working through key issues, with the focus remaining on ensuring compliance, transparency, and long-term commitments.

IAEA's Critical Role

The return of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is being viewed by Washington as a significant confidence-building measure.

However, IAEA inspections are designed to provide independent verification of nuclear activities and help ensure that commitments under any potential agreement are followed.

The Path Toward Final Agreement

The latest development marks a positive shift in US-Iran diplomatic efforts after years of tensions over Tehran’s nuclear programme.

While officials involved in the talks are now expected to focus on resolving remaining technical and political differences before a final deal is concluded.

Ends.
