New Delhi (India), June 4: New Delhi (India), June 4: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has made a sharp attack on the government, warning of what he described as an “economic tsunami” and claiming that the country could face serious turmoil due to an upcoming economic crisis.
The Congress leader also made a major political claim, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may not remain in office after the next year.
He claimed that dissatisfaction was growing among constitutional institutions and government bodies. Gandhi further said that India is heading towards an internal revolt and claimed that uncertainty was growing within the government system.
Leader of opposition (Lok Sabha) said on Wednesday, “A massive economic tsunami is coming now. The reason is that India's protection system has been removed. The BJP has removed the shock observer from the international economy. So, on one hand, a massive economic tsunami is coming. Prices are rising, and this is just the beginning. India will face an economic crisis like you have never seen in your lifetime. This is happening, and no one can stop it now,” Rahul Gandhi said.
“On the other hand... a revolt is taking place within the system. So, you think that today the Election Commission is completely under control. It was completely under control three years ago. I received messages from the Chief Election Commissioner. The head of the intelligence system... the senior judiciary, everyone is revolting. They are giving out information,” he said.

“Now it is possible that they may try to suppress the public pressure and do something like Emergency... My assessment is that Modi ji will not be the Prime Minister within a year,” he further added.
The remarks have triggered a political debate, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expected to respond to the allegations.
Rahul Gandhi’s comments come amid ongoing political tensions between the Opposition and the government over economic policies, governance and institutional functioning.
