New Delhi [India]: US President Donald Trump took his first ride of his new presidential aircraft, Air Force One gifted by Qatar.
The new Air Force One is a retrofitted Boeing 747-800 valued at USD 400 million.
US President formally unveiled this new flying palace on June 19 at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The aircraft, a specially modified Boeing 747-8 jet, has been prepared to serve as the interim Air Force One, officially known as the VC-25B Bridge aircraft.
A Gift From Qatar’s Royal Family
The aircraft was gifted to President Trump by the Qatari royal family, making it one of the most talked-about presidential aircraft in recent times.
Temporary Role as Air Force One
According to the Pentagon, the aircraft will be used by President Trump temporarily. It will operate as Air Force One until Boeing completes the construction of two new VC-25B aircraft designed specifically for presidential travel.
The new Boeing aircraft are expected to replace the current Air Force One fleet in the future, while the “Flying Palace” serves as a bridge solution.
