Delhi gets new police chief: Know Anurag Kumar, IPS with IB background

New Delhi [India]: Anurag Kumar, a senior IPS officer of the 1994 batch has been appointed as the new police commissioner of Delhi.

According to the order issued by the Union Home Ministry, his appointment will come into effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders.

In the order, incumbent Police Commissioner of Delhi Satish Golcha has also been directed to report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for further posting upon assumption of charge by Anurag Kumar.

This significant development comes after the situation of law and order in the National Capital that needs an improvement.

Over the period of a few days there was speculation that there could be changes in the top administrative services of national capital.

Anurag Kumar is two batch junior to the present Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha.

Anurag Kumar joined the forces in the year 2015 and since then he served as a DCP rank officer in the Delhi Police and later to that he was shifted to the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Kumar has been holding very key portfolios over the period of many years which has been dealing with the country's internal security.

And at a time when Delhi has been facing these kind of threats from outsiders as well as all those law and order situations, appointment of a person who has served and had a long tenure in the Intelligence Bureau could be a major change in guard.
