New Delhi (India), June 13: Global diplomacy is set to take centre stage as leaders of major economies gather in France for the G7 Summit from June 15-17, with efforts to stabilise the global economy expected to dominate discussions amid signs of easing tensions in West Asia.

The summit comes against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's announcement of a possible breakthrough agreement in West Asia, which could help de-escalate the crisis in the region.

With geopolitical tensions showing signs of easing, leaders are expected to focus on measures to strengthen economic growth and address global challenges.

The summit could also provide an important opportunity for India and the United States to recalibrate bilateral ties under the Trump administration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump are both expected to be in France during the summit, raising the possibility of a bilateral meeting on the sidelines.

However, an official confirmation of the meeting is yet to be announced.

If the meeting takes place, it would mark the first face-to-face interaction between the two leaders since Prime Minister Modi's visit to the United States in February 2025.

Prime Minister Modi is on a six-day visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to 18.

During his stay in France, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of India-France relations under the recently elevated Special Global Strategic Partnership.

Modi and Macron will also jointly inaugurate the Bharat Innovates event in Nice, aimed at showcasing India's innovation ecosystem and strengthening collaboration in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.
