Indore (India), June 10: Food security has emerged as one of the biggest challenges facing the world today.
Rising populations, climate change, natural disasters, and disruptions in global supply chains are affecting food security across nations.
At such a time, the role of BRICS countries becomes extremely important.
The BRICS Agriculture Working Group Meeting is being held in Indore, under India’s Chairmanship. The key agenda in this meet is food security.
Food security is not merely about producing sufficient food grains. It is about ensuring that every person has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food at all times.

However, the agricultural sector is currently facing multiple challenges. Climate change is rapidly altering weather patterns, with droughts in some regions and floods in others, affecting agricultural production.
In addition, global conflicts and trade uncertainties have disrupted food supply chains.
This makes the role of BRICS nations even more significant.
BRICS countries possess nearly 42% of the world’s arable land, while around 68% of the world’s small and marginal farmers live in these nations.
They also contribute approximately 45% of global food production. This is why the meeting being held in Indore is considered important not only for member countries but also for the future of global food security.
Under India’s chairmanship, the meeting is approaching food security from a broader perspective.
India believes that the solution to food security lies not only in increasing production but also in making agriculture sustainable, technology-driven, and farmer-centric.
Representatives from BRICS countries have also praised India’s efforts to empower small and marginal farmers, saying that these initiatives could serve as a model for other nations.

Ends.
