New Delhi [India], June 20 : A major confusion erupted ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination after an 18-year-old student from Nagpur was allotted Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates as his examination centre. The student and his family were surprised as he did not have a passport and had applied from India.

The incident came just days before the re-exam, raising concerns over the examination process and the accuracy of centre allocation. Reports said the Abu Dhabi centre was around 2,500 km away from Nagpur and was not among the cities selected by the candidate.

NTA Admits Error, Says Technical Glitch

The National Testing Agency (NTA) said the unusual centre allotment was caused by a technical glitch. The agency assured that the mistake would be corrected and a fresh admit card with the proper examination centre would be issued to the student.

The NTA has been under pressure to ensure a smooth re-examination after previous controversies surrounding NEET. Authorities have increased security arrangements for the exam.

Air Force Steps In for Secure NEET Paper Transport

Ahead of the re-NEET examination, the Indian Air Force has been involved in transporting question papers to ensure secure and timely delivery. The operation included multiple sorties to move examination material across different locations under enhanced security arrangements.

The move comes as authorities attempt to strengthen confidence in the examination system following earlier allegations of irregularities.

Political Reactions

The centre-allotment issue sparked criticism from opposition leaders.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the government over the incident, questioning the handling of important examinations and saying that authorities should not risk students’ futures because of such failures.

Leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also criticised the government, alleging that repeated exam-related problems show administrative failures and demand accountability from those responsible.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also reacted to the controversy, questioning the reliability of the examination system and highlighting the stress faced by students.

NEET Re-Exam Under Tight Security

The NEET-UG re-examination is being conducted with additional security measures after earlier disputes linked to the medical entrance test. The authorities have said that steps are being taken to maintain fairness and prevent further problems.
