New Delhi [India], June 28 : The alleged Ram Mandir theft controversy intensified after reports claimed that the resignation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai was sought by the leaders of RSS.
As per the sources in media reports, Champat Rai asked to immediatelty resign and step down. He was allegedly warned that a public announcement could be made if he refuse to do so. Reprts also claim that initially Champat resisted but later he agreed to resign.
The development came after allegations of financial irregularities of temple donations surfaced. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe reportedly pointed towards the lapses in donation handling and followed by which arrests were made in the case.
Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra then stepped down from their positions amid the controversy. While the temple trust said that they are committed to a fair investigation and assured devotees that donated funds are safe.
Although, the case has now raised a fresh concerns over transparency and accountability in the management of one of India’s most significant religious projects. Further investigation and official findings are expected to reveal more details.
