Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan: At least 15 people, including eight police officers, were killed and more than 20 others injured in a suicide bombing near a police station in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday evening.
The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m. in the busy Kabal Chowk area of Swat district, where a peaceful protest was taking place. According to police officials, the suicide bomber attempted to enter the police station but was stopped by security personnel at the main gate.
Moments after being intercepted, the attacker detonated the explosives, causing a powerful blast that killed police officers and civilians gathered nearby. Authorities said another body recovered from the scene is believed to be that of the suicide bomber.
"We tried to stop the attacker from entering the police headquarters, but he blew himself up," a police official said, adding that the officers who lost their lives died while protecting the public.
Emergency teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where several victims are reportedly in critical condition. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while forensic experts began collecting evidence from the blast site.

The attack took place in Pakistan's northwestern region near the Afghan border, an area that has witnessed an increase in militant violence in recent years. Pakistani authorities have been battling an insurgency by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), although no group has claimed responsibility for the latest bombing.
Officials have launched a full investigation into the incident and tightened security across the region to prevent further attacks.
Pakistan has repeatedly alleged that militant groups operating in its border provinces receive support or shelter from across the border in Afghanistan. However, the Taliban-led government in Kabul has consistently denied any involvement in militant attacks inside Pakistan.
The deadly bombing underscores the continuing security challenges facing Pakistan as authorities work to contain militant violence and protect civilians and security personnel.
