New Delhi (India), June 7: The American forces struck Iranian coastal radar sites on Saturday after shooting down drones launched by Iran toward the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military said it believed the four Iranian drones were targeting regional maritime traffic. US Central Command stated on X that it subsequently struck Iran’s surveillance sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island, both located in the Strait of Hormuz.

The attacks have raised fresh concerns over the fragile ceasefire. However, US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that “the situation with Iran seems to be going quite well” and added that the US would soon exit Iran “one way or the other.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the US strikes on radar and coastal surveillance facilities. In a statement, it said the US action violated an April 8 ceasefire and that repeated violations showed Washington had no intention of reducing tensions. It warned that the United States would bear responsibility for the consequences of its “illegal actions.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had attacked US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US strikes and also fired at four tankers attempting to cross the strait without its permission.
