Phu Quoc [Vietnam]: A tourist boat carrying Indian passengers reportedly capsized near Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island after encountering rough seas and strong winds, resulting in a major tragedy.
According to initial reports, the vessel was carrying 32 passengers, most of them Indian tourists, when it overturned shortly after departing from Hon Thom (or a nearby island) for An Thoi Port.
Rough sea conditions and strong winds are believed to have thrown all passengers and crew into the water.
Vietnamese authorities have launched an extensive search and rescue operation. As per the latest information available:
15 Indian tourists have reportedly died.
21 people have been rescued.
Search efforts are continuing for those who remain unaccounted for.
Local officials have not yet released a final report on the exact cause of the accident, although adverse weather and high waves are believed to have contributed to the incident.

The accident occurred in a popular tourist area near Phu Quoc, known for its beaches and island tours. Local residents indicated that sea conditions in the region have recently been unstable, making travel more hazardous.
The Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Embassy of India in Hanoi have established emergency control rooms and are coordinating assistance for affected families. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with Vietnamese authorities.
