CJP calls off protest as govt agrees to all 4 demands

New Delhi: The government has agreed to withdraw all FIRs filed against protesters in Delhi as well as BJP-ruled and BJP-allied states, according to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das following talks with the government.

Speaking after the discussions, Das said the withdrawal of FIRs was the party's second demand and that the government had accepted it.

"Our second demand was that all the FIRs filed against the protesters, not just in Delhi but in all BJP-ruled and BJP-allied states, should be withdrawn. The government has accepted that demand as well," Das said.

He added that the government had assured the party that copies of all FIRs filed would be shared within the next three to four days.

According to the party's latest information, around 15 to 20 FIRs have been registered in Delhi.

"The government has assured us that it will share copies of all the FIRs filed – as per our last information, 15 to 20 FIRs were filed in Delhi – and we will receive those copies within three to four days," he said.

Das further said the government had assured that the withdrawal process would begin shortly.

He also said the party had submitted a draft seeking a written guarantee from the government on the issue. According to Das, the government has said it will share its response by Tuesday.

"We have shared a draft with the government, which is a written guarantee. The government has said it will share this with us by Tuesday. We hope that by Tuesday we will receive the government's guarantees regarding these FIRs and any future action," Das said.

The CJP has announced to end the protest after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today.

Pradhan made his resignation public by posting the resignation letter on social media platform X, just an hour before the scheduled 3:30 p.m. meeting between government representatives and CJP leaders.

Pradhan attached a two page letter in his post in which he said, "I hold deep respect for the aspirations, sentiments, and rightful expectations of the youth of this country. Realising the dreams of India's young generation has been the moral resolve of our political and social life. I express my gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister for the opportunity given to me to serve the nation under his visionary leadership."
