CJP deadline set — student protest expected soon?

New Delhi: Cockroach Janta party (CJP) announced on late Monday that it will be compelled to call next round of protest if the government does not withdraw the all the FIRs registered against the protesters.

The CJP gave the government till tomorrow (July 28) as the deadline to lift the FIRs across country.

In a press conference held in New Delhi, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said, "We hope that if a senior Cabinet Minister is making an agreement with us, it will be honoured. All the FIRs filed will be withdrawn."

"If this written agreement is not provided by the government by tomorrow, and if the students, youth, and protesters are not released, then the CJP will be forced to protest again," Ranka said.

Ranka in a post wrote, "We are observing a complete breach of the agreement regarding no police action against the protestors. Hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal, and hundreds are being surveilled/harassed in Delhi and other states. Multiple reports are emerging in Delhi around detention of volunteers supporting protestors with logistics."

"We demand that all the FIRs against the protestors be immediately withdrawn, students be released and no future FIRs be filed (in line with our agreement) by Delhi police / Central investigative agencies / Police in BJP-allied states, FAILING WHICH WE WILL BE FORCED TO SIT ON PROTEST AGAIN," Ranka further wrote.

"We also demand that the written agreement around legal cases be shared with us by tomorrow, the aligned timelines with the Government of India."

On July 25, the Narendra Modi-government agreed to withdraw all FIRs filed against protesters in Delhi as well as BJP-ruled and BJP-allied states, according to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das following talks with the government.

Speaking after the discussions, Das said the withdrawal of FIRs was the party's second demand and that the government had accepted it.

The government, subsequent to the discussion agreed on all four demands of the CJP. Post which the students ended their protest at Jantar Mantar.
