New Delhi [India]: Opposition parties on Saturday intensified their attack on the Centre, accusing Defense Minister Rajnath Singh of misleading Parliament over casualties suffered during Operation Sindoor after reports that six Indian soldiers were martyred during the military operation.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in a post on X, alleged that the BJP had misled the public about the soldiers' martyrdom.
The post added, "The BJP, which scams on the coffins of martyrs, has been misleading the country's public about the soldiers' martyrdom in Operation Sindoor. After which the country's public has also come to know —"The BJP belongs neither to the soldiers nor to Lord Ram!"
For context, Over a year after India's operation sindoor, the government has revealed the names of the six Bravehearts who laid down their lives during New Delhi's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Pakistan sponsored attack killed 26 people, including 25 tourists after terrorists opened fire on April 22 of last year. Weeks later on May 7, the attack triggered India's response in which six members of the Armed Forces made the ultimate sacrifice during the mission.

The names of the Bravehearts are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar of Headquarters 10 Infantry Brigade; Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Vir Chakra, of 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry; Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of 5 Field Regiment; Agniveer Mood Muralinaik of 851 Light Regiment; Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh of 237 Field Workshop Company; and Sergeant Surendra Kumar, Vayu Medal, of 39 Wing.
Notably, Defense Minister Singh had said that “no soldiers were harmed” during the operation.
Launching a sharp attack on Singh, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that there were "only two possibilities" regarding Singh's statement in Parliament that no soldiers were harmed during the operation.
"Either Defence Minister @rajnathsingh was unaware, when addressing Parliament, that six soldiers had already been martyred. If that's the case, it raises a grave question mark over that minister, who lacks knowledge of the very ministry he leads. Or else, he knew the truth and yet chose to mislead Parliament," Khera said in a post on X.
He further alleged that the sacrifice of six soldiers was concealed and that "they were denied the honor and recognition they deserved," adding that their families "were robbed of the transparency they had every right to expect."
Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose also questioned the government's version, calling the issue "extremely serious."

"If six Indian soldiers were martyred during Operation Sindoor, how did the Defence Minister tell Parliament that 'no soldiers were harmed'? Parliament deserves the truth. The families of our martyrs deserve the truth. India deserves the truth. The @narendramodi government must explain why Parliament was misled," she wrote on X.
The government has not yet responded to the Opposition's latest allegations.
