Police officials updated that there is no longer any threat to the public.
The shooting took place near a youth facility on Dankersstrasse, south of the town centre.
Stade, located about 40 kilometres from Hamburg, has a population of nearly 50,000. Authorities have not yet revealed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Two eyewitnesses said that the police fired at least ten to fifteen shots to control the situation. They said that number of casualties could go up as there were more people present at the time of the shooting.
According to the eyewitnesses, five people have lost their life while the number can increase because some more people are critically insured.
The mass shooting is considered a huge incident in not just for State, but also for Germany.
Germany has witnessed a lot of recent car attacks, shocking the country. In a recent incident some fringe elements drove cars into crowds.
In addition, due to the unstable economic conditions, the country has seen a rise of mentally stressed people or mentally ill lone wolfs, attacking people in the public places.
"It's been a toss time for Germany the last few years with more violent than has been normal in the past, as it's usually quite a calm and safe place to live," a local reporter told GB News.
This is developing story. We will update it as the new information comes.
