New Delhi: India's Ministry of External Affairs has made it amply clear that all illegal foreign nationals staying in India will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The statement from the government comes as Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing will be visiting India starting May 30.

During the visit, President Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to travel to Bodh Gaya and Mumbai, and will also hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on strengthening bilateral ties between India and Myanmar.

India's Ministry of External Affairs has made it amply clear that all illegal foreign nationals staying in India will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Once the verification process is completed, India will be in a position to deport those identified as Bangladeshi nationals.

Energy security remains a key priority for India, adding that the country is working to diversify its energy sources across global markets. India welcomes support from all possible partners as part of its broader energy strategy.

India-Myanmar relations are rooted in shared historical, ethnic, cultural and religious ties. As the land of Lord Buddha, India is a country of pilgrimage for the people of Myanmar.

India and Myanmar share a long land border of over 1600 km and a maritime boundary in the Bay of Bengal. A large population of Indian origin (according to some estimates about 2.5 million) lives in Myanmar. India and Myanmar signed a Treaty of Friendship in 1951.

India-Myanmar relations focus on border security, connectivity, trade, and humanitarian assistance. Bilateral ties remain central to India’s Neighbourhood First and Act East policies, anchored by strategic, cultural, and economic engagements.
