New Delhi (India), June 8: Leaders of the INDIA alliance on Monday held a key meeting at the Constitution Club in New Delhi, where they reached a consensus on five major issues, including writing to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) over concerns related to the voter list and election fairness, and intensifying their attack on the Centre over unemployment, inflation, and issues affecting students and farmers.

The meeting was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Supriya Sule, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and other opposition leaders.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined virtually.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Kharge said all alliance partners unanimously agreed to send a letter to the Chief Justice of India regarding alleged interference in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, concerns surrounding the voter list, and the fairness of elections. The letter will be submitted at the earliest, he said.

The alliance also demanded the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister, citing alleged failures in handling issues related to NEET and CBSE examinations. Kharge said lakhs of students had been affected and that the government had "betrayed" the country's youth.

The opposition bloc further resolved to continue raising issues related to the economy, unemployment, inflation, atrocities, and farmers' concerns. It also urged the Centre to convene an all-party meeting to discuss what it described as the country's "precarious" economic situation and other public-interest matters.

Kharge announced that INDIA alliance parties would now meet every two months, with the next meeting scheduled to be held in Hyderabad in August.

As per the sources, several parties questioned the one-time meeting and suggested that these meetings should take place at regular intervals.

He also said parliamentary coordination among opposition parties would continue during the upcoming Monsoon Session, with daily morning coordination meetings to be held in the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
