Ayodhya [India]: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is considering significant organizational changes, including a leadership reshuffle, as it seeks to restore public confidence following allegations of irregularities in the handling of temple donations.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, trust members expressed concern over developments over the past month, saying the controversy has adversely affected the trust's credibility among devotees.
The ongoing deliberations are focused on measures aimed at rebuilding confidence among those who have contributed to the temple, regardless of the amount donated.
A key issue under discussion is the reported resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai, along with broader changes to the temple's administrative and operational structure.
Trust members are also reviewing mechanisms to improve transparency, accountability and oversight in the management of donations.
According to the sources, the controversy surrounding the donation collection and counting process has become the dominant topic of public discussion in the temple town over the past four weeks.

The allegations, they noted, have raised concerns among devotees about whether contributions made to Lord Ram are being managed with complete transparency.
Trust members are understood to believe that restoring credibility is now their immediate priority. While a change in leadership could be the first step, they also acknowledge that structural reforms will be necessary.
Discussions have reportedly included introducing more automated systems, strengthening standard operating procedures (SOPs), increasing accountability and enhancing public outreach.
During the trust meeting, member Krishna Mohan explained that a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged after irregularities were detected during a preliminary inquiry into donation counting.
He said the decision to initiate legal action was based on facts established during the initial investigation and that the FIR was filed promptly to facilitate an impartial probe.
Trust members also discussed the need to regain public confidence through visible reforms within the organization.
Participants emphasized that restoring faith would require not only administrative changes but also greater transparency in how donations are received, counted and utilized.
Addressing the larger issue, one participant drew a distinction between the temple and the trust, arguing that while allegations have affected the trust's image, the Ram Mandir itself remains untouched by the controversy.
The focus, they said, should now be on ensuring that the institution managing the temple earns back the confidence of devotees.
The discussions also highlighted the significance of the Ram Mandir, given its historical and religious importance.
Speakers noted that because the temple was built after decades of social and legal struggle, expectations regarding its governance and financial integrity are especially high, said sources.

Questions have been raised over missing donations and the handling of funds, with multiple individuals reportedly under investigation.
Trust members acknowledged that devotees must be assured that every contribution—whether a single rupee or a much larger amount—is used solely for the service and upkeep of the temple.
Among those addressing the meeting was Swami Parmanand Giri, who said that protecting dharma remains the trust's foremost responsibility.
Other members reiterated that legal proceedings were initiated after preliminary findings established sufficient grounds for investigation.
