Washington DC [USA]: The US Embassy in New Delhi outpaced other US embassies in Europe by facilitating USD 20.5 billion (around Rs 2 lakh crore) in new investments from India into the America, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on Monday.
Speaking at the USISPF Leadership Summit in Washington DC, US Ambassador to India Gor said, "One thing I am proud of is all the embassies compete. So you got your work cut out for you. But all the embassies compete to bring investment back into United States and you have these beautiful embassies in Europe and they come up on stage."
"They say we are proud to announce USD 500 million dollars. We are proud to announce USD 700 million dollars. Our embassy in New Delhi this year we were very proud to announce that USD 20.5 billion dollar (Rs 2 lakh crore) in new investments," he added.

The remarks by US Ambassador comes at a time when India itself is struggling to attract a substantial investments and country's net foreign direct investment (FDI) has declined drastically in recent years.
India net FDI fell to less than $1 billion in 2024-25 compared to its peak in 2020-21 of $44 billion. The country's corresponding gross inflow was $94.6 billion. According to the government data, India records USD 81.04 billion FDI inflow in Financial Year (FY) 2024–25.
Going further, Gor said that India, US are close to announcing a big new defense deal involving Boeing.
Speaking at the summit, he said, "When foreign leaders show up and meet with the president, Boeing is usually on the agenda. Because we care about Boeing, we care about taking you to the next level and making sure that these countries are buying the best and the most efficient planes in the sky."
"And so I can tell you, we've not spoken in a week, but it again came up with the Prime Minister, because we're this close to getting another big deal done with India, and we're looking forward to bringing that across the finish line. Look, to answer your question, it's the limitless potential," he added.

Speaking about a significant interest of American firm's i India, he said, "Not a week goes by where an American company comes to see me and they ask my ambassador Is it safe to invest in India? Will our IP be protected here or will the laws change next month? Is the tax system here is safe? Or someone gonna come share us down six months and incredibly gratifying thing say that United States trust India."
"We work with India, look forward identifying those opportunity for both of sides. Since I have gone there we also focus on bringing high-level visitors to trust," he further added.
