New Delhi: The DMK has intensified its campaign against the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), taking the battle to Parliament with the party arguing that the examination is detrimental to aspiring medical students and should be abolished across the country.
Maintaining its long-held stand against NEET, the DMK has moved notices in both Houses of Parliament seeking an immediate discussion on the issue.
In the Rajya Sabha, senior DMK MP Tiruchi Siva has submitted a suspension of business notice under Rule 267, demanding a debate on the impact of NEET on medical aspirants and calling for the examination to be scrapped.
In the Lok Sabha, the party has also moved an adjournment motion seeking an immediate ban on NEET. The motion additionally calls for an investigation into allegations of excessive force against students protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

The move comes as Parliament is already discussing examination reforms, with the DMK seeking to broaden the debate beyond issues such as paper leaks to question the continuation of NEET itself.
According to the DMK, the party has consistently maintained that NEET is against the interests of students. The issue has been a longstanding political position for the party, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin having raised it repeatedly in the past. The state had also witnessed widespread protests against the examination, and during the current Parliament session, DMK MPs have continued to press for its abolition.
The party has indicated that it will persist with its demand inside Parliament, maintaining that the focus should not be limited to reforms in the examination system but should instead include the complete abolition of NEET.
